To innovate, stop doing everything

Innovation happens when you have a lot of time on your hands. It is not easy to innovate when you are trying to live your everyday life, running from office to home and vice versa. Innovation and new ideas come when your mind plays with things in your head. It happens when your mind is free from worries. It happens when you are not thinking about your next salary or promotion. Mind has an amazing abilities to toy with the ideas when it is free from distractions and worries. If you are sitting in a park for hours without looking at your watch, you can get tonnes of ideas.
Newton got his idea about gravity while he was lying idle under a tree. Taj Mahal, a magnificent structure took fourteen years to be built. Most of the scientists work in their laboratories without a care for external world. What is common to all of them?

They let their mind dwell and become idle. Idle mind produces some of the greatest ideas.

How to use this technique to get ideas?

Take a vacation( or find a quiet spot), sit idle for some hours. Don”t do anything worthwhile. Just don’t think of anything. Observe the nature. Then propel your mind towards creating ideas. Start and then leave. You will be surprised that mind will start generating ideas like never before.  Practice this everyday and your mind will become an idea generating machine.

Try it out and let me know if this works.
