1800 ways to lose credibility

1800 numbers are common everywhere. They give a company a professional edge. If however, behind this 1800 number, there lurks a bad IVR, it is going to destroy credibility more than ever.

I often note down the options when calling a company service center as

1-2-3-1-1  -> get to billing information

1-3-4-2-1 -> talk to customer care.

Next time I don’t bother listening.

If there are too many options to chose from customer will be put off. Avoid them and keep it simple.

This is something a lot of businesses do not quite get. It’s pretty understandable that the options are for getting the customer to the right department. But going through 3 or more IVR trees is really unacceptable. Poor customer service indeed.

hehe…ohk buddy. I avoid making calls to the customer care…call only in emergencies. I too have a habit of forgetting such numbers. It is so frustrating :(
