He has a great sense of curiosity and is a great friend to everyone he meets.
I had the honor to interview him on email and he has thrown interesting spotlight on his internet entrepreneur journey. I hope you all benefit from his experience and wisdom
Tell me something about yourself? How and why did you get into blogging?
I started blogging in August 2006. Before being a blogger and affiliate marketer, I was working as a engineer in engineering company here in Sardinia, but unfortunately as with every job, there are some things you cannot predict(i.e. the economy). One day, I was laid off. Instead of feeling depressed about it, I thought of something. One day I saw in a library an ebook titled “How to create your first HTML page”. This ebook was enlightening to me, so I immediately decided to create my own site online, the3dtechnologies.com.
At first glance, my site may seem something that related to new technology and in fact at beginning it was a site that showed this type of stuff. Anyway, after a few months I quick realized that in order to make money, I had to switch to another and more profitable niche. So, if on one hand my domain name remained the same, on the other hand the main topics have changed and now my site is all about both about making and saving money online.
As an internet entrepreneur, what were your biggest challenges when you started?
I started out small, and I get excited when I remember that made $70 by making a sales from sitesell.com affiliate program. My biggest challenge was to create several sites, each one on different niches. Now I have eight little sites that help me make a monthly income stream. These days the numbers of affiliate sales are quite a bit higher and I am even starting to experience some $2000 months of earnings.
Can you tell us something what are things technically an internet entrepreneur( blogger, affiliate marketer , eCommerce vendor) need to know to be successful? (SEO , technical etc.)
The best advice I can give to affiliate marketing is to write quality content on the product that you’re promoting. Also, I’ll suggest to tell your reader that you’re using the product because it increase people trust over you.
What do you think are the soft-skills( such as patience etc.) an internet entrepreneur needs to develop ?
Patience is crucial. It helps teach you discipline, prevent mistakes, discover what’s important for your business and what’s not. Many time I got frustrated because I was not gaining anything, and just by having a bit of patience I could get some results.
Is your business primarily for making money or do you really enjoy what you do and then make money on it?
My motto is,”Don’t put all your eggs into the same business”. It means, do not focus your attention and efforts on a single business model. I’ve eight sites and other micro sites in difference niches, in which I use several methods to monetize, adsense, buysellads, affiliate marketing and so on. My main resource of income is the3dtechnologies yet, but I’m planning to grow the other sites within some months.
What according to you are important things to achieve your goal in business journey?
Be prepared for change. Always be willing to change your direction to get there as conditions and circumstances demand. Whether happens that for some reasons the market in your niche collapses, then you could lose your main source of income. So, you have to consider this factor when setting your goals. I’ll suggest to set up multiple websites in different niche, so if one go down due economic crisis you have other alternative to monetize.
It is often said that blogging as a medium is not going to last very long. What are your comments on it?
That is what I heard just seven years ago, and blogging is alive yet. In my view, when someone have to choose if purchase a product they need, the first thing he does is read a few reviews in order to take a final decision. Also, many company have now started creating a blog, and despite the born of social media like Facebook and twitter seemed to be a threat, in reality they gave a great hand to many of publishers to promote their blog.
What are the important points you keep in mind while marketing your venture to your target audience?
I use difference search engine optimization techniques to help my website achieve these results. The second one is email marketing, which is always a strong method to reach target traffic. It is also important when trying to get potential customers to reply to their questions whenever you are contacted. I often got good deals by replying other people through my contact form.
How do you keep yourself motivated and charged up to keep blogging day after day?
I get motivated by the results I get on my website, traffic, sales, and so on.
And last one, you are now an internet celebrity. How does it feel to get results after so long hard work?
Hehe, thanks for kind words but I am not a celebrity sincerely and I do not want to be. I work better when I feel that people do not know me. I will continue as I always done but with an eye open over new ways to monetize my blogs. For e.g. I’d like to turn two of my passions, fishing or running into a business. I noticed that both these niches are profitable and I can use Robb Sutton methods to get free stuff by company that produce products for these sport.
