Structure of mediocrity

in My Personal Thoughts

In a jungle, there are only a few tigers but a lot of deers. In military, there are a few commandos but a lot of soldiers.
There are people with exceptional abilities. They know how to handle customers, how to make a sales, how to create a great solution. They are probably 1% of the total worker population.
They get in 80% of revenues, they are the darlings of customers.
However when it comes to pay, they get average or slightly higher pay than all other “medium” level coworkers.
In the book “First break all the rules”, it is told that great managers are a little partial to such people. They get paid more and are stars of work force.
In commodity business, there are no stars needed. All you have to do is to turn up, do something and get paid. You are not even allowed to change something for better, unless it leads to more conformance.
In this world, there are food chains. In jungle, there is a pyramid with carnivores at top . In corporate world, there is the leading company at the top and many me-too at the bottom of pyramid.
Inside any company doing commodity work however, there are no pyramids, its just a flat structure. Structure of conformance and mediocrity.

Everybody has that special ability to do something. How valuable it is to the organization or workplace pretty much determines that’s ability’s worth. It’s up to the person how and where to use that ability to fulfill its full potential.

People who excel and shines are those who step out and raise their thoughts. Those are entrepreneurs.
