I don’t know exactly where to start from. Apart from being a blogger, I have also been handling sales and marketing operation for a software product here in my company from last 3 years. To be very honest, I would have never ever thought of being into this sales and marketing thing. But then say it as my destiny or whatever, I was made to go for the same. Yes…I had to because I had no other options left.
Well, I am still not in position to justify my decision. But honestly, I have no regret as such. I have been taking it as learning curve and with times, I have learned to manage it all with ease and confidence. Though I have to say one thing…I haven’t been so productive with the results but there are many factors related to the same. Anyways, I am not here to discuss all those factors as I have a much bigger issue to discuss. Yes…today, I am in a mood to discuss a thing which I have seen as an issue for most of the organizations, at least it has been a very same case here. Now, how many of you are aware of the term “ Talent Management ” I guess it is not known to most of us. Even I was unaware of the same but now I do understand it better..!
Talent Management is all about getting right people in right jobs. It does look easy in the first instance but it isn’t so in reality. Most organizations face such issues and still then nothing much is done in this regard. From what I have seen, some organizations do seem to be less bothered about the same as for them filling right people in right jobs doesn’t matter much. For them it is mostly about filling vacant positions with people who are able to meet prerequisites of a given job profile. Well, it is the same case in most of the organizations. Very little is thought about fitting right talent with right jobs. Having been through a similar experience, I have to say that when you make people to do jobs which doesn’t suite their liking, inclination or temperament, more often than not, it can lead to disastrous consequences in the form of low productivity, dissatisfaction, low morale, absenteeism and other negative behavior. One of the things which I have known till date, A job is never interesting. It is you who has to make it look interesting. And this is where you talent, your skill plays a bigger role though one thing is for sure, finally everything has to happen as per what management decides..!
Talent matters and it is the role of HR to screen the same from a bunch of professionals. It may not be easiest of the things to do but recognizing a person’s inherent skills, traits, personality and offering him a matching job, is what must be practiced finally with prudence and caution. Anything missed here can result in further hiring, re-training and other wasteful activities.

So here you go. I think I don’t need to write anything more. But yes, a question can be raised here – How can an organizations effectively manage talent ? Well, I could have written on the same but then I have decided to come up on the same in my next post. Hopefully very soon. To sum up, Talent needs to be utilized in the best way possible as it is inexhaustible and priceless. The wealth and value it adds to the organization is highly indispensable. Sooner it is practiced , better can it be for organization in the long run..!
