You are my sunshine!

in General

When I entered the field of blogging, I had no idea how it worked. I learned with time that you can really drive more traffic to your site by commenting on other blogs. Looking for some traffic, I started commenting on a few blogs.

However soon I realized that there was a spirit of camaraderie that went beyond just the transactional exchange of traffic( I comment on your blog and you comment on mine). It was like making new friends with whom you share your experience, thought processes and knowledge. Not only you give but also gain from the wisdom shared on these blogs.

These bloggers whom I had a chance to interact with  shared their enormous experience also become friends just like in real world.  Who says distances matter? I, sitting in India, have many blogger friends in faraway countries. The only way we interact is online and which is absolutely terrific.

These friends not only respond to you, they also talk about you. I have had countless mentions by all my blogger friends on their blogs. This alone increased reach of my blog manifold. They also introduce friends to each other. I am now a part of community that is thriving and vibrant.

I got my sunshine

Last week, I was awarded the “You are my Sunshine” award by my dear friend Carolyn Nicander Mohr from The Wonder Of Tech. Carolyn has been a great friend since we met online. I remember Carolyn putting her faith in me when she went and purchased my first kindle book almost immediately after I had announced the publication. It was a great boost to my self-image as I was just a newbie in book writing Smile.  Since I have known her, I have only been enriched by her thoughts and her professional experience. When I write something on my blog, she is always there to buttress it with examples from her own life. We share a lot of tips on emails with each other on improving our websites. She is truly my brand ambassador. I am really glad to have a friend like you, Carolyn.

Okay so here is my sunshine list.

There are so many people whom I have met and whom I feel that have added to my blogging journey that it is impossible to fit them in just ten. But then I will try to do it.  Here is the list strictly in alphabetical order only Winking smile

Aswani Srivastava : I stumbled upon his blog accidently but I am happy I did that. He was the first one ever to comment on my new little blog( in those days). Since then we have developed a great friendship, which extend beyond blogging and right into matters even personal. We chat almost daily about the things we care and worry about them as if we can change them just by worrying. He is my guru on SEO related stuff as well. He has a unique stand point on various topics on web which he clearly articulates on his blog “One stop blog”. Connect with him if you want a friend forever and guide.

He has a phenomenal blog at  Balanced Work Life where he writes on topics such as career, life and work. He has huge business knowledge and shares it all with us. Like a great friend, he drops in your house(or blog) frequently to see if you are doing okay. He encourages others by responding thoughtfully to their ideas and sharing them with others.

Chrysta Bairre : If I have to go an get any suggestion on how to lead a fulfilling life, I would approach Chrysta. Her blog “Live Love Work” is so simple yet  amazing. I like the way she conveys a message in simple bulleted list. These message go in your head like tasteful dessert goes into stomach. She is a great friend who will always respond kindly to your comments and share your thoughts too.

Daria Steigman : If you want to get a weekly digest of awesome business tips, subscribe to Daria’s blog , independent thinking blog. She has been one of my biggest inspirations in business. Her thoughts echo with me all the time. She has a lot of practical advice that any business would love to apply. She is a great conversationalist too. We often chat on twitter( can you imagine that ? Smile ) . Apart from that she will make sure that she shares her knowledge and success with you .

Nicola Deiana : Nicola is not only an awesome friend but also my “brother” on Facebook. Imagine a world like that where people placed so far away can be brothers. Nicola is one of the most funniest and also most intelligent person I have ever met. He runs an awesome blog called as the3dtechnologies where he gives suggestions on how to make money using internet. The best part is that he shares so many funny things on Facebook that it really brightens your day.

He is also a very active member of many tech groups on Facebook and has legions of fan who live by his suggestions( see the likes on his FB page >7000). He is a great friend, who can teach you a lot when it comes to blogging and technology. He shares your ideas and encourage others to apply them.

Robert Pinto Fernandes : I have been friend with Robert for a long time now. He runs a great blog at The Biz Blogger where he shares with us his experiences in running a blog and other businesses. He is very friendly and is always there when you need him. With his knowledge, I am sure that anyone who follows his blog can learn a lot from him.

Sonia Winland : If you want a friend who makes your day and talk to you sweetly all the time, Sonia is the one. She is an awesome blogger too ( She write about topics that every blogger / entrepreneur need to know. She makes amazing app discoveries and then posts them online for all of us to see and enjoy. Suresh Kumar Gondi : He is the kung fu Panda of tech blogging ( sorry for this Winking smile , Suresh). He is dynamic, witty, helpful, intelligent and knowledgeable. You can see him posting his thoughts on Facebook about living a dynamic, motivated life. I am sure one day he is going to become a big businessman and also that he is going to help many achieve their life goals on his way. Read his awesome blog at Software Buzzer.

Swami Ji Balendu : If you are interested in some soul searching, Swami Ji has it all. On his blog he puts some of his most practical advises from his personal experience. He blogs at You may follow any religion or no religion, he has something for you. He is also a great mentor supporting you with his kind suggestions whenever he is asked to provide them. His blog is a source of information about how you can enrich your life and let go of things that bind you to petty things.

Woooooh…. Doesn’t this looks like blockbusters list?

Okay , here are my answers to part 2 of the sunshine award. Now to the questions…

Favorite Color – Blue: I love this shade. It is a shade of choice for business clothing too.

Favorite Animal –  I do not have a pet animal. But my favourite is Tiger. It is the most magnificent of them all. I once had a chance to pat a real wild tiger. But I am glad, I refrained from doing soWinking smile.

Favorite Number – No preference here.

Favorite Drink – My favourite drink is sweet Lassi which is made out of yoghurt. It is pronounced as L-u-ssi (Lu like luck). On a hot day, this is the most natural thing to cool yourself down.   Here is the link to Lassi. However more interesting is Bhang Lassi Winking smile ( read about it on the page)

Facebook or Twitter – Both serve their own purpose but I am more of a Facebook person because it has more interaction points ( likes, comments, shares).

Your Passion – My music. I am a completely crazy fan of classical rock. Infact I wash my car two times if someone plays pop while I driving( I am kidding, I do it only once).

Giving or getting presents – Both Smile

Favorite Day –Saturday because one is least bothered by Monday( which has a mighty Sunday before it) and one can party without care.

Favourite flowers: Ones that my wife likes. I have not been able to pinpoint the name but then she always tells me that she wants only those Winking smile. I think they are Lily

Here is what people who are in the list need to do

  • Thank the person who gave this award and write a post about it.

  • Pass on the award to 10 fabulous bloggers, link their blogs, and let them know you awarded them.

Thanks for nice words. My readers are the lifeline of my blog and you are a prominent one out of them. Also your blog is one of the great blogs I have read.

Carolyn | Wonder of Tech March 27, 2012 at 9:10 pm

Wow, Ashvini, thank you for your very kind words! I treasure our friendship, I am very honored to have met you and developed our relationship through blogging. You have been so very helpful to me and other bloggers. Your talents are only surpassed by your generosity.

You’re right, your choice is an all-star list of bloggers. I have met many of them through you and look forward to getting to know the others.

I’m glad you didn’t pet that tiger!

Congratulations on your Sunshine Award. You richly deserve it, my friend!

Ashvini Kumar Saxena March 28, 2012 at 3:27 pm

Thank Carolyn for all your appreciation. I can never pet the tiger. All I got was a chance to touch him by extending my hand out from the jeep in which we were travelling :).

Bryce Christiansen March 27, 2012 at 8:38 pm

Thanks Ashvini,

I’m starting to get sick of all this pop music as well, I’m surprised you didn’t burn the car afterwards.

It’s great to get to know you better my friend. Really cool award. You deserve it and thanks for passing it on to me as well.

Ashvini Kumar Saxena March 28, 2012 at 3:29 pm

Hey Bryce,
I too am getting sick of this music but burning a car is an extreme option. Washing it would be okay ;) LOL.
You deserve the sunshine award :) totally.

Chrysta Bairre March 27, 2012 at 6:22 pm

I am so humbled and grateful to be included on your list, Ashvini!

One of my favorite benefits of blogging is all the wonderful friends I’ve made across the globe! I am fortunate to know so many kindred spirits in this world.

I enjoyed reading more about you, too. I’m not sure I could have stopped myself from petting a real tiger. Okay, I probably could have, but I would have really wanted to pet him!

I rarely get the chance to enjoy a cool refreshing Mango Lassi but I do love them so! Actually my favorite Indian restaurant is just a block from our house and it’s one of my favorite places to eat but we save money by not eating out often and so I don’t indulge in Lassi as much as I would like.

Thank you, Ashvini, for your thoughtful comments and your wise and insightful posts on business and life! I am truly honored to know you, my friend!

Sonia March 27, 2012 at 4:54 pm

Thanks Ash for including me in this list. I know how you feel starting out and engaging with people online. When you don’t know anyone it’s weird making that introduction, but once you do and you start commenting, reading and making that connection it simply clicks. It’s been a great journey getting to know everyone and watching our blogs grow.

I wanted to also share my congrats with you again on the release of your new eBook. You did a great job and I am still reading it. I can’t wait to share it with my readers on my blog. You have been a great friend to me and extremely supportive to my content online and the support you have given to them.

Thank you my friend. You have to send me that receipe for that yogurt drink. That looks awesome!

Ashvini Kumar Saxena March 28, 2012 at 4:28 pm

Hey Sonia,
