10 things that make technology look positive

in My Personal Thoughts

Technology will keep advancing and people will have to catchup. That has been the reality from time immemorial. Technology causes loss of jobs, migrations of workforce and hardship including many others.

That is one way to look at it. Another way is to look at the positives.

  1. It enables people to spread their voice ( negative or positive, that depends)
  2. It helps prevent and cure dreadful diseases
  3. It helps better global integration. Even if I cannot or don’t want to travel to another end of earth, I can still make friends with them
  4. It opens up new ideas for innovation by lowering costs and extending reach systematically
  5. It provides new global markets for your products and service
  6. It makes competition truly global. Be lean and mean , or you wont survive
  7. It creates new jobs by creating new skills and demand for them
  8. It allows collaboration between the best minds in the world
  9. It helps overcome mundane work so that you can do something else, probably more productive
  10. It helps you find groups with whom you share common interest, across the world

Now its up to you to decide how do you plan to utilize it.

To be honest, I am kind of like a tech freak (well, almost everyone is, depending upon our definition of technology).

Electronic technology is something I don’t support (because it uses a lot of energy to run and has other problem too), but I still use it (Well, I have to as a student. And of course, as a blogger).

You are right, Ashvini! Instead of focusing on the negatives, we should look at both aspects (and at the same time try to improve these machines – like trying to decrease the amount of energy it takes to run them).

Hi Jeevan,

The technology has made our lives better though some people would not agree. It has made things easy for me for example by making it easy to find information rather me going to a library. I think positives outweigh the negatives , if people know how to handle the technology.

Always a pleasure to hear from you Jeevan. Have a great day :)

Ashvini,

Thanks for the nice post. Technology is one of the key ‘term’ which got over criticized by past and ever. When TV emerges to the world, it raise lot many questions on negative side and finally all gone with the wind. Technology succeeded!

Similar way, mobile phone, internet, Social Network or any science invention when reaches our society, the world condemn them mostly at negative side. We all know, There is nothing called 100% perfect.

I consider technical excellence is kind of a nature and great things always reach community without any promotion. It will raise & demise automatically. Successful technical advances always opens more channels and its eternal journey. Of course, we have negative side by technology as well. Just few..

We destroy nature’s Ozone layer..
We kill pure oxygen with carbon monoxide..
Medical scan & Sex identification leads global sex in balance..
Immature communities always betrayed by false alarm technical advances..

There are many more. I always see technology @ positive side and let’s try to utilize as needed.

Hi Vijay,

Technology may be harmful or useful depending on our usage of it . As you clearly said that people often see something in negative light before deciding to adapt to it. People condemned Facebook as waste of time, now one billion people are using it to find new friends and business. I think its our fear that stops us form using it and then later on greed which causes enormous problem. Humans have learned hard to use tool from thousands of years. They need to not be scared instead think of the possibilities with adoption of new technology.
Its good to see you back and hopefully we will have many more such interactions :).
